Fully funded Level 5 CELTA places for UK West Midlands residents

Train as an English language teacher with DC Teacher Training funded by the West Midlands Strategic Migration Partnership

DC Teacher Training is delighted to be working in partnership with the West Midlands Strategic Migration Partnership (WMSMP) to deliver fully funded Cambridge CELTA courses as part of a regional ESOL teacher training capacity-building initiative, supported by UK government funding.

A total of 36 funded places are available on selected CELTA courses delivered in Birmingham and online, with all training taking place before 31 March 2026.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for a funded place, you must:

  • Live in the West Midlands (Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall, Sandwell, Coventry, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Solihull, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Telford & Wrekin)

  • Intend to remain in the West Midlands after completing the course

  • Meet the standard CELTA entry requirements

We particularly welcome applications from:

  • People with lived experience of ESOL learning

  • Refugees and people from migrant backgrounds

  • Those already volunteering or working in ESOL contexts

Applications are welcome from all communities.

CELTA entry requirements 

  • Aged 18 or over

  • Native-level English or high C1 / advanced English

  • Educational background suitable for Level 5 study

  • Commitment to full attendance and coursework

You do not need to provide formal certificates at the application stage, eligibility is assessed as part of the process.

Full-time in Birmingham

  • Face-to-face
  • 4 weeks
  • Monday to Friday
  • 12:00 noon - 8:00 pm
  • Option 1: 12 Jan – 6 Feb 2026
  • Option 2: 16 Feb – 13 Mar 2026

Part-time Online

  • Live online
  • 10 weeks
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • 5:45 pm - 9:30 pm
  • Option 1: 20 Jan – 26 Mar 2026

Full-time Online

  • Live online
  • 4 weeks
  • Monday to Friday
  • 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Option 1: 5 Jan – 30 Jan 2026
  • Option 2: 2 Mar – 27 Mar 2026
  • Face-to-face courses take place at our campus in Norfolk House, 84-86 Smallbrook Queensway, Birmingham B5 4EG

  • Online courses are 100% online on Zoom

  • You must be available to attend the full course for your chosen mode of study.

Funding is limited and must be used by 31 March 2026. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
