Why CELTA? Why Now?
CELTA is the industry standard qualification for those who wish to teach English as a foreign language. It is a certificate awarded by Cambridge University and is more widely recognised than most other TEFL certificates. In a world of remote working, more and more English lessons are taking place online and now is the time to take advantage of this and get a qualification that will allow you to do this. The changing career world post-pandemic has also meant that people are looking for flexible qualifications that they can get quite quickly and that will give them different career options, and a CELTA will allow you to teach in both non-English speaking countries and English-speaking ones and the qualification can be gained in as little as 4 weeks!
Course Formats to Suit Your Life
We offer CELTA both online and face-to-face. In 2026, we will have almost twenty different start dates for our online CELTA courses, running completely on Zoom, available wherever you are in the world so long as you have a laptop and a good internet connection! We have both full-time online courses running over 4 weeks and part-time ones running over 3 months. Our online CELTA courses offer exactly the same certificate you receive after a face-to-face CELTA course.
We also offer both full-time and part-time courses at our our face-to-face UK centres. The full-time courses are quite intensive and so you can only do this if you're not working or studying, but if you're not available for a full-time course, we have a range of different part-time timetable on weekday evenings and/or weekends to suit your life. You can find all our dates here.
Where You'll Find Us in 2026
DC Teacher Training run Cambridge-approved CELTA courses in five UK cities. Our biggest centres are in the two biggest cities in England, Birmingham and London, where we run courses regularly throughout the year. Our London centre is at St Giles Central College, located near Russell Square in central London, while our Birmingham centre is at English Path in Norfolk House, just beside New Street Station. We also run courses at our smaller centres in beautiful south coast cities at Bayswater Education in Bournemouth and at ELC in Brighton and in Eastbourne.
What to Expect: The CELTA difference
CELTA stands out from other courses that train people to teach English as a foreign language because it is accredited by Cambridge. This means that all of our courses are delivered according to Cambridge specifications. Every single one of our CELTAs is inspected by an assessor from Cambridge and all of our teacher trainers are qualified and approved by Cambridge. Our CELTA courses include assessed teaching practice - a standard TEFL certificate won't have this and it's the most valuable part of the qualification - during a CELTA course, you'll teach eight lessons to real students at two different levels and you'll be observed by qualified tutors who will give you guidance on how to be a better teacher, meaning that by the end of the course, you really are ready to step into the classroom!
Who Our Courses Are For
We accept CELTA applications from all over the world, from both native English speakers and advanced level learners of English. If you're bored of your current job and would like a new experience, teaching English in a new country, with the support of our dedicated tutors, then CELTA is for you! You don't need prior experience or qualifications in language or in education before you apply.
Browse Dates & Apply Now!
Our 2026 dates are available to browse here. You'll find course schedules designed to suit those who wish to study part-time and full-time, online and face-to-face. It's always better to apply sooner rather than later, as courses do fill up fast, because we run courses with small classes where you'll have one tutor for every six course participants. We don't have a formal application deadline, but you'll receive an early bird discount if you pay 21 days before courses start, so to avail of that, we recommend applying at least 4 weeks before courses begin.
